Agriculture is at the heart of the King 2030 vision to assure feed security and contributes to the three axials of the vision: Vibrant community, booming economy, and ambitious homeland. Improving agriculture production will improve human wellbeing, fight poverty, and increase employment chances and investments in the agriculture sectors. Sustainability means that we have to provide the requirements of food/feeds and fiber for the present without influencing the ability of the next generations to fulfill their own requirements. That means the practice of agriculture utilizing the ecology principles to keep the balance between living organisms and their environments as “an integrated production system for animal and plant practices that have specific field applications so that can sustain for a long period without the drain of the resources.” Plant sectors are responsible for providing food and fiber for humans and animals’ feeding. Animal sectors are provided with animal products to fulfillment of animal protein requirements for Humans and by-products for animal feeding such as fish and pet animals. Improving and sustainable agriculture production will improve land and water resources use, reduce agriculture waste, increase crop and the animal production of milk, meat, eggs, and fish, reduce importing foods, feeds, animals, and save billions Saudi Riyal and safeguard the environment without drain the resources. On the other hand, it will boost the export of agriculture products from Saudi Arabia to the region supporting the booming economy axial of the vision. Presently, the demands of the fast-growing population of the world for food production are increasing day by day to ensure food security for human consumption. Agriculture sector can be described as the main source to provide and ensure the food security This has widely led to intensive farming characterized by monocultures of crops receiving high levels of inputs of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. As a results, agricultural intensification has several side effects on human health (i.e. cancer and sterility) and the environment (i.e. biodiversity losses, water contamination, soil deterioration and in the end causing the global warming). Sustainable agriculture is a suitable approach to improve a production without unwanted side effects on human and the environment by applying innovative solutions. The importance of agricultural sustainability after the COVID-19 pandemic became obvious to offer adequate and good quality food during the pandemics. The aim of this research group is the dissemination and application of sustainable practice and technology in agriculture as well as spreading the concepts of sustainable agriculture among farmers, society, researchers, and our students. Therefore, KAU will be the leader among Arab universities in establishing this research group. We have worldwide scientific relationship, ideas, and infrastructure, which enable us to boost this research group and attain our aims and strengthen the relationship with the local society as well and the capability to provide training for the agriculture sector for King Salman Program for Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development, and the two initiatives of the Crown Prince “Green Saudi Arabia and the Green Middle East”.
